Watching as the little girls ran around the park next to the hospital, both of them giggling as they jumped from puddle to puddle left from the short rainstorm, he was unable to keep from smiling and laughing at their antics.

After sitting in the waiting room for the last six hours, the girls needed to be able to let out some energy so while Elliot and the twins stayed behind, Landon offered to help him with the girls. He played with them in the park before saying he would be back. Jake thought how sweet it had been watching Landon play with the girls, making them squeal and scream in excitement.

So sweet in fact, Jake could feel the longing start to build in his chest as he imagined what it would be like with pups. He could imagine Landon as a father, playing the prince to their daughters’ princesses and teaching their sons how to be little men. If only he could get over this hang-up he had of being the bottom. Was it really so bad to be a bottom?

“What’s wrong, Alpha?” Little Claire asked as she led her sister over, smiling as she watched Gracie climb into his lap to rest her head on his shoulder and sucking her thumb into her mouth. “Are you still worried about your family not loving you anymore?”

“Claire, how do you know all of this?” Jake asked, as it still creeped him out when she made these random comments. Watching the little girl shrug her shoulders up to her ears and then she gave him a bright smile, he knew he wouldn’t be getting answers from her anytime soon.

Turning his attention to Gracie as she started patting his face, he felt his stomach drop when he heard her softly whispered words, “If Daddy dies like our other momma and dadda did, will you be our new daddy?”
